It has been a sufficient enough amount of time since I wrote one of these eh? :D So I guess I should update what I'm doing.

Lately I haven't felt like I've had the time to do much of anything creative. It has been a real bummer. Sometimes I'll pull out my tablet at work but as I'm supposed to be working I don't usually get much done; just doodling that I don't save. I wish I was more comfortable with gimp. I just can't appear to get it figured out.

It turns out that it isn't necessarily time that I don't have but rather space. I live with my boyfriend in a one room apartment in a really nice, quiet area that has respectful tenants and staff. I don't want to move out but it is quickly shrinking in my minds eye. We have a big dining room table but I feel uncomfortable spreading my artsy or crafty stuff out on the table if it means that Lee loses that space too. There's also really low lighting in our apartment - two windows, one leading out to the balcony and one facing straight into the bedroom, so it is just all around frustrating. As such I've been focusing on writing again, which is nice, but I doubt I'd post any of it here. Maybe after I finish something and edit it.

"On every world, wherever people are, in the deepest part of winter, at the exact midpoint, everybody stops and turns and hugs. As if to say, "Well done. Well done, everyone! We're halfway out of the dark."
-Dr. Who

I have a confession to make...I have not yet watched Dr. Who; a friend posted this on her Facebook wall around the solstice and it really spoke to me. This goes so much further than just the holidays...but Happy Holidays everyone!

Haven't had much time to do much of anything. I had a major project dropped on my lap - documentation and a training program for said documentation. It will probably be an uphill battle, and I'm not looking forward to some of the training sessions. But, that's the way it is, right? People surprisingly signed up for the first set of training available - I thought people would want to wait until after Thanksgiving. Oh well. The sooner its over, the better right?

As such I haven't had a chance to write much for NaNoWriMo. I really miss writing. A lot. :( I try to get back into it, but especially since I wrote, edited, cleaned up, and all that for this documentation (and I still have a couple pieces to finish this weekend) I have felt like doing everything but writing. I need to decompress my brain. I'm thinking about painting Solitude and Windhelm from Skyrim and putting it up on my wall, so I might start that this weekend.

We just saw Skyfall in theaters. It was awesome. Everyone should see it.

NaNo and beyond

Another NaNoWriMo is coming up in November, and I think I have my plot figured out, but I don't know if I'll post it on dA. But...if you are also participating you should find me on their website, I use the same handle there. :D My story is fantasy, the main character gets turned into a butterfly.

I have also been drawing in a sketchbook, but I haven't uploaded anything. We don't have a scanner in the apartment, and my camera doesn't pick anything up, really, because it's all light sketching. I thought about trying to take a couple sketches into Inkscape and cleaning it up, but it didn't look right. It looks like I'm at my best drawing inanimate things or scenery (which is what most of my sketches are right now), probably because scenery is easy to tailor as it's all organic anyways.

As for jewelry I'm kinda putting that all on hold. Etsy has made some changes that I really don't agree with, and I don't know if I should be posting anything on there - including my cards. I'm really torn on it, because I enjoyed selling and making the cards, but there are so many changes and security issues it doesn't seem like a good idea. I don't know how cards sell at craft shows, but I have thought about going that route.

In the meantime I'm going to try to revive a blog/website project I had been working on before. We'll see how that goes. I think...I'm not sure.

Last month was a new event called Camp NaNoWriMo. I had never done it before (although I have done NaNoWriMo for eight years now!) but I thought it would be good to get me back into the swing of things for the real NaNoWriMo in November. I failed and did not write 50,000 words. Oh well, there's always November!

It's the start of the Labor Day weekend here (my first actual weekend away from work in years!) and I have some...ambitious plans. So ambitious I am embarrassed to share them with you just yet.
